Day Trip to Richmond, Virginia
Man, Richmond, VA never disappoints! It is a capital city filled with historic industrial building, open green spaces, and an amazing food scene. Here is what I did on my day trip to Richmond:
Dined at Pinky’s
Pinky’s is in the Scott’s Addition area of Richmond and serves Mediterranean food. The meal was very flavorful! I tried the lamp papas (potatoes), ribeye sandwich, and arugula salad. Everything was good, but the lamb papas are a must try!
I loved the feminine masculine mix in this restaurant. It looked masculine from the outside with a full brick exterior and garage style windows. Then when you get inside there is more whimsy and your silverware is wrapped in a feminine pink napkin.
Took in the City Views at Jefferson Hill Park
One thing about Virginia is that it a hilly state. This little park on a hill was so cute. On its first level there is exercise stations and on its top level there is a playground for children. There was a lot of room to spread out a blanket or kick a soccer ball. The best part, in the close distance was a spectacular view of the Richmond skyline.
Walked Along the Canal
The James River runs through Richmond and it makes for some nice places to hang out near water. One of those places being the canal walk. There are restaurants and historic buildings along the walk, but I think my favorite aspect was all of the bridges. You certainly don’t feel trapped on one of the canal during this walk. There are so bridges to go from side to side and they are all so beautifully crafted.
Sat in the Capital Square Park
A short walk from the Canal walk was the Capital Square Park. The landscaping is very well kept and it is the perfect place to stop for a seat.
This was a short and sweet trip to Richmond, but I hope it helps you with planning a trip of your own. Speaking of plans, I couldn't end this post without reminding you that God has good plans for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future."
